Emma, Kate, and Bethany will probably recognize this picture (drawn straight from the cover of the San Francisco guide books we got sent from Old Navy, LAZY!)... I promise when I'm out there I'll be able to post some more thought-out illustrations of the city! So this isn't so much as a good-bye post, but just to let everyone know that I am relocating to San Francisco, California until September! The girls and I won an apparel design competition for Old Navy so we're going out there to design for a bit, and soak up the California sun! ...Or more the San Francisco fog. With regard to commissioning, I'm still doing illustration stuff (currently doing some bits for a couple of british magazines over the summer which I'm really excited about!!) so if you do want to get in touch about illustrations then drop me an email!

Aussie Lusciously Light Summer Soirée
On Saturday the 25th of June I was invited to Uncover Aussie's Summer Soirée in celebration of their delicious selection of Lusciously Light Hair goodies! After a grey-skied start in Notting Hill, the sun soon decided to beat down and we all had a fantastic time getting our hair done, drinking champagne (courtesy to the champagne tasting that was organized) and binging out on candy-floss (once we'd worked out how to spin it on the sticks ourselves!) Big thanks to Emma at Uncover Aussie who organized the event and never fails to throw an awesome party! Pictured at the top is my new friend Susie of Take Out in Couture getting her hair done, an array of garden illustrations including one of my old blogging friend Fiona of Save Our Shoes, and the two wonderful hairdressers of 'Blue Tit' which is based in Dalston. Just above is of the massive wall carving (?) which looked over us while we had champagne and photoshoot fun!

My First Published Book- Fashion Bites, Hardie Grant Publishing, On Sale Sept 2011, £12.99
I have to spend all of today quarantined at home because I'm waiting for various deliveries (inc. USA Visa, HOPEFULLY!!) and while checking the post I found a parcel containing a copy of my first illustrated book! Please forgive my amatuer photography (this is why I illustrate and stay clear of cameras.) Sending a big THANK-YOU to Kate Pollard at Hardie Grant Books who sent me this early copy and a lovely card to go with. I had so much fun working on the book and it's amazing to see it ready to buy!

Latte in Florence
The day after Laura's wedding I had a bit of free time in the city of Florence. As well as indulging on a hungover shopping spree (leading to spend more money than I should have..) I took a break in one of the many coffee shops in the city. Still armed with a sketch book I couldn't resist drawing the scenery!

Laura Fantacci's Wedding Illustrations... A Small Preview
I thought I would put up a preview of some the illustrations I did for Laura of Red Magazine's Wedding. But I suppose it's only fair to let the bride see them all first! So once delivered, I will put up all the rest of the drawings. I had a wonderful time and I'm looking forward to being able to share my scribbled record of the fantastic Fantacci (& Simone's) wedding!

Mario Testino, US Embassy
I can't think of many perks of getting up at 5am to go for a Visa Interview in the high security London American Embassy (no phones or electrical devices allowed, so I bought a sketch book with me for entertainment.) But one thing that did brighten up my visit was being next in queue to world famous Fashion Photographer, Mario Testino! At least my journey from Kingston (which does feel like a formidable distance from Central London sometimes) wasn't as far to travel as Testino's... who'd come all the way from Peru to get his Visa! It was a privilege to meet him, and I'm glad he didn't mind being drawn in his reading glasses.

Canterbury Launch Party at Therapy Store
Designer Oli Hill of Canterbury Global asked me to come along to their Launch Party event last Thursday. The place was bursting with impeccably dressed people, which definitely did the surroundings justice, being based at the Therapy Store, Shoreditch. After a long day of slogging it in the studio I was more than up for a drink and a dance, and was so glad that all the guests were too! Oli was a great host, and I hope to get an invite to the next Canterbury Party. Here are the illustrations of some of the wonderful people I met from the event.

With Love from Florence
Alongside wedding illustrations for Laura Fantacci's wedding, I managed to sketch a little extra while I was out in Florence. Here's a couple which now belong to my my Mum (for her 50th Birthday) and my Dad (for Father's Day). The one at the top is of the AMAZING florist's handiwork at Laura's wedding. I thought it was right up my mum's street because she spends most of her life doing THIS! Below is Florence building scenery and seemingly more masculine than the flowers, hence why it was put on my Dad's card.

Patricia Pereira da Costa Collection Part 1
As part of my Fashion Degree at Kingston University, we traditionally help the third years with their Final Collection. I was lucky enough to be helping Patricia Pereira da Costa, who's collection was not only beautifully made, but informed by high intelligent concept. Her fusion of influences shine through the collection; a mix of menswear tailored details, with strong, graphic shapes inspired by artist Rebecca Horn. Helping her out was so interesting and got me excited about my own Final Collection (although I am still shitting myself for third year)! Here are some of the illustrations I did on location during the Look Book photoshoot.

Jet Set to Florence!
Thank-You to everyone that voted for my Kylie Minogue T-Shirt Competition Entry! I will keep you posted when I find out more about the competition selection. I am about to fly out to Florence to illustrate Laura Fantacci of Red Magazine's wedding! I haven't had time to stop this week cos between endless toiling for my Fashion Degree I have been accumulating a nice collection of illustrations ready to post on the blog... just haven't, quite managed to post them yet! On my return look forward to illustrations from Kingstion Fashion Graduate Patricia Pereira da Costa's S/S '12 collection (pictured above), Graduate Fashion Week (including a very rushed drawing of Henry Holland while he was browsing through Ravensbourne's portfolio) New Zealand's Sports brand, Canterbury's Showcase Party, and of course, Laura's wedding.
Ciao for now, see you on my return!

Avant Garden for French Connection
This is a Spring/Summer 2012 collection I designed for French Connection as part of my Fashion Degree at Kingston University. It was inspired by Yves Saint Laurent's Marrakech garden, Le Jardin Majorelle in Morocco. I also sourced print ideas from one of my favourite paintings by David Hockney.
